The Alameda DA’s office is famous for nepotism. In fairness to Orloff, he did not start this tradition, but he certainly has continued it.
Some people related to VIPs hired or promoted by Orloff:
1. Nadia Lockyer, wife of Bill Lockyer (hired)
2. Lisa Lockyer, daughter of Bill Lockyer(hired)
3. Chistopher Bates, son of Tom Bates.(hired)
4. Jeff Stark, son of Pete Stark. (promoted)
5. Erin Kingsbury daughter of Judge Kingsbury
6. Paul Hora son of Judge Hora
7. Paul Delucchi son of Judge Deluchhi
8. Maya Ynostroza, daughter Judge Ynostroza
9. Catherine Horner Dobal, son Judge Horner
(Catherine Horner graduated Harvard with Honors, anyone would have hired her, but I feel her employment is a possible conflict of interest that Judge Horner should reveal to all defendants)
10. Jason Chin, son Justice Chin
There are other judge’s relatives who are working of did work in the DA’s office, but I am not sure if Orloff hired or promoted them, as I say, the nepotism is a tradition Orloff has followed:

13. Amilcar Ford, grandson Judge Ford.
There are many more judge’s kids who got hired, but I believe they pre-date Orloff.
By hiring Chris Bates and Lisa Lockyer, Orloff had the kids of both the local assemblyman, Tom Bates, and the local Senator, Bill Lockyer, working for him. He already had the local Congressman’s kid, Jeff Stark, working for him, and he prmoted Stark.
None of this would matter, except that the same kind of favoritism is shown by the fact that Orloff never prosecutes a politician or connected person for corruption unless that person has already been caught by the media, and sometimes not even then.
Desley Brooks was essentially defrauding the taxpayers by having a full time staffer who was out of the state most o fhe time. God knows how many laws Don Perata has broken. No prosecutions at all.

This office is full of nepotism and cronyism, and it does next to nothing to prosecute local VIPs for political corruption.
I know because when I reported a judge’s older brother for a large embezzlement, they did nothing, except begin to harass me for being a whistleblower.

Adding to the list of Orloff’s lies:
A few years back, the DA’s office, not Orloff peronsally, was accused, by a former employee/top prosecutor, of having an unspoken policy of keeping blacks and jews off jries.
Orloff called the man, John Quatman, a liar, but it seems to me it was Orloff who was not honest.
There was a case were a convicted man, Michael Alonso Fuller, successfully appealled on the grounds blacks were kept off his jury.
It’s very likely Orloff knew of this case, he was already involved in management of the office by that time, and successful appeals are fairly rare. And of course, it was a very hot button topic.
Another thing Orloff has kept hidden is the fact he had been a long time member of an organization, the Masonic Temple in Pleasanton, which is accused of being “white men only”.
A lot of lying from this guy.
